I can remember the day Dad pick me and brother up from school and told us we was going to buy a dog, we was both so excited.
When we arrived at a ladies house in Nottingham there must of been about 20 little dogs running around, it was chaos!
The lady took us into the back room and that's where you was with your little brothers and sisters. You'd been found at the bottom of a rubbish shute, somebody had just dumped you all and left you to die.
You stood out from all the others and went straight to my dad, you was that little you could fit on the palm of his hand. You was really sweet and that was it, you came home with us.
You was about 6 weeks old so we said you was born on Mums birthday. You used to get chews galore on your birthday, spoilt rotten!
The only thing we didn't like was the lady had called you Fredick, lol.....we soon changed that!
When we got you home Aunty Helen fell in love with you went to see the lady herself and brought one of you little brothers, you 2 were like the terrible twosome. But we loved you both all the same.
Unfortunatly your brother died when he was 5 due to a heart defect. We was worried because we didn't know if you would have the same problem but the vet said you was fine.
I can remember when we used to run about in the garden and you used to nip my bum, lol! You little bugger you! And when i got one of your chocolate chew rings stuck around your head, lol...i told mum you tried to jump through it! We used to have so much fun.
You brought so much joy to us all for 15 years but then you got poorly. Your muscles started to weaken and you found it hard to walk. One day Dad took you out for your walk and your legs went, he had to carry you home. It was heart breaking. You used to love your walks so much, when Grandad came round you would bark and bark until he gave in and took you round the block. You knew how to get you own way, lol!
Eventually we had to take you to the vets, it wasn't fair to leave you in so much pain. You could see you'd had enough. The day you went to the vets Dad said you jumped out of the car, it was as if you knew it was time for your rest. Dad, Haydn and Grandad went with you and stayed with you until you were alseep. Dad said the vet was crying, she's looked after you since you was a baby if there was a problem. I didn't go to the vets because i didn't want to remember the sad tired dog, I wanted to remember the little cheeky chap who used to nip my bum and run around for hours.
Your still remembered and missed. Your collar still hangs in the coat cupboard with your lead.
We know you're up in heaven with Grandad, infact you proberly barking so he walks you around the block as i type this, lol!
Sweet Dreams old man!
Another year has gone "Jaspy" and today Sept 1st would have been your birthday-same as me. We still talk of you and miss you. Your little plot in the garden has beautiful yellow lillies growing. We've never replaced you cos we would never get such a lovely natured little chap like you again. Run free our "little man" till we cross that rainbow bridge and we can run through those fields together-just like the old days. God bless "our little lad" be at peace xxx mum & dad

Special Friend
--------------
I came home from work; after a long hard day
but the house felt so empty; I couldn't stay
So I grabbed my coat; and hopped in the car
then drove to the park; it wasn't to far
I walked down the path; and spotted a bench
then it started to rain; guess who got drenched
I dried the bench; then sat down to rest
I looked up in the tree; and saw a bird's nest
I watched two dogs; take a break for a drink
as my mind started wandering; I started to think
I thought about times; from back in the past
when the fun we had; would last and last
The kid's would see us; as we walked in the park
and they'd come a runnin; as you let out a bark
With your friendly bark; and wagging tail
off you'd all go; play on the trails
You were so kind and gentle; never a pest
in everyone's book; you were simply the best
Always there; for one in need
as you did your best; to do a good deed
I got up from the bench; and walked to my car
then drove back home; it wasn't very far
I walked in the house; and pulled up a chair
then opened a window; to get some fresh air
I went to the kitchen; to get a drink
then sat in the chair; and began to think
My life has been blessed; since the day we met
to me you are one; very special pet
The Lord decided; to put us together
I'll always be thankful; for ever and ever
You are my star; my guiding light
my eyes and ears; in the black of night
I look to the day; we'll be together again
just me and my very; special friend

Into Spirit
I see you grieve,
I feel you grieve
But I am with you.
And will stay, til you laugh
When remembering the fun
We had in all those years.
Thank you for the courage to let me go,
No more weary, no more pain,
I am with you, you will feel me
My cold nose, my waving tail.
You will see my smiling mouth and shining fur,
You will hear my happy voice.
I can run now, I can play now
With all my family and my friends.
But I will love you and I will watch you
Til we meet again.
A Woodland Place
A woodland place full of dreams,
A mossed bank and bluebells,
Grey ashes floating down
Sinking into browned rich earth,
Spirit soft bodies,
Happy eyes waving tails
Cold noses pressed into our hands
There and all around, easing grief,
In soft warm, warm spring air.

Since you have gone the sun has left the sky,
No breezes blow,
No birds sing
To ease the aching vacuum in my heart.
I shall not forget your gentle ways;
No judgements made,
No difficult demands,
No needs save one,
To share your life with mine.
Now kind, uncomprehending people say,
"Cheer up, you'll love another pet some day."

Precious Love
The agony is so great...
and yet I will stand it.
Had I not loved so very much...
I would not hurt so much.
But God knows I would not want to diminish
that precious love...
By one fraction of an ounce.
I will hurt...
And I will be grateful for that hurt
For it bears witness to the depth of my love.
And for that I will be eternally grateful.

A letter from your pet in heaven
Author Unknown
To my dearest family,
some things I'd like to say.
But first of all, to let you know,
that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from the Bridge.
Here I dwell with God above.
Here there's no more tears of sadness.
Here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy
just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I am with you
every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you
when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me
and He said, "I welcome you.
It's good to have you back again,
you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family,
They'll be here later on."
God gave me a list of things,
that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list,
was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night
the day's chores put to flight,
God and I are closest to you...
in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth,
and all those loving years,
because you are only human,
they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry:
it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers,
unless there were some rain.
I wish that I could tell you
all that God has planned.
If I were to tell you,
you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain,
though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now,
than I ever was before.
There are rocky roads ahead of you
and many hills to climb;
But together we can do it
by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy
and I'd like it for you too;
That as you give unto the world,
the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody
who's in sorrow and pain;
Then you can say to God at night...
"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented...
that my life was worthwhile.
Knowing as I passed along
I made somebody smile.
God says: "If you meet somebody
who is sad and feeling low;
Just lend a hand to pick him up,
as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street
with me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps
only half a step behind."
"And when it's time for you to go...
from that body to be free.
Remember you're not going...
you're coming here to me."
THERE IS A NEW STAR SHINING IN THE SKY TONIGHT...
by Sarah Hartwell
There is an old belief that the stars shining in the night sky are the
spirits of those who have died. They have shed their earthly bodies and
exchanged them for bodies made of light; thousands upon thousands of our
dear departed friends all promoted to glory in the night sky. There is
another saying that the brightest flame burns the shortest.
My friend, you were the brightest star in my own universe. While I burn
on, my flame dimmed by grief and despair at your passing, the stars are
watching me. They are too far away for me to touch, just as you have
gone somewhere I cannot follow until my own star-time comes. They
cannot be held close for comfort, just as I can no longer hold you
close, though I held you close to comfort you in your final hours. We
were together for such a short time, but the stars will burn forever.
One day I will grow tired of this earthbound body, my own star-time will
come and my spirit will soar into the sky to burn with all those friends
who have gone before me. On the inky cloth of space we will be reunited
in constellations of joy. Until then, my flame burns low and dim and
cold without you. Through my tears I look upwards to see if you are
watching me and what do I see?
There is a new star shining in the sky tonight.
Beyond the Rainbow
As much as I loved the life we had and all the times we played,
I was so very tired and knew my time on earth would fade.
I saw a wondrous image then of a place that's trouble-free
Where all of us can meet again to spend eternity.
I saw the most beautiful Rainbow, and on the other side
Were meadows rich and beautiful -- lush and green and wide!
And running through the meadows as far as the eye could see
Were animals of every sort as healthy as could be!
My own tired, failing body was fresh and healed and new
And I wanted to go run with them, but I had something left to do.
I needed to reach out to you, to tell you I'm alright
That this place is truly wonderful, then a bright Glow pierced the night.
'Twas the Glow of many Candles shining bright and strong and bold
And I knew then that it held your love in its brilliant shades of gold.
For although we may not be together in the way we used to be,
We are still connected by a cord no eye can see.
So whenever you need to find me, we're never far apart
If you look beyond the Rainbow and listen with your heart.

"And when it's time for you to go...
from that body to be free.
Remember you're not going...
you're coming here to me."
I know what you're thinking. You think I'm dead. Because you cannot see me with your human eye, cannot feel me with your hands or hold me in your arms, you think I am gone forever.
You recall how I looked when I left this place, and you cannot remotely imagine that I could possibly be alive in another place. You are racked and torn by the pain of our separation and it blinds you to that which is right in front of you... me..............
I'm here to tell you different. You were worthy of my love and undying devotion on earth as I of yours. Do you really believe this love would be snatched from us forever by a loving Creator simply because I wasn't human? Was I not a living, breathing creation with personality? How could I have been so if I didn't possess the energy of soul, spirit and loving light? And if this energy is and always will be, then how can it be that I am dead?
.................
You say that all you have left are memories. Not so. You see, when I took leave of my earthly body I left a little something behind for you. You can't touch it, hold it or examine it for what I left behind is far too uninhibited for confinement. I left behind a piece of my soul. I placed it right next to your own which is quite fitting as we were always side by side in our earthly life together. I love you too much to have left you with nothing but memories, which tend to fade and grow cloudy as the years go by.
I love you too much to have vanished without a trace. How selfish it would be of me to remove love and light from your life.
.............
I understand your tears, each one you shed is testament to your love for me and I am honored and humbled. But don't forget the good things we shared - remember and smile. This is an honor for me as well. And when you need me I will be here. Close your eyes, relax, take slow, deep breaths and picture me in your mind. Shut off the world and your notions of what death is and give me a chance. Look for the subtle signs I send you. Don't stop being proud of me, I am a friend to be proud of, I am still your friend and soul mate.
Don't memorialize the death of my body but instead honor and celebrate my never-ending life for it is eternal and forever as is my love for you.
